Our medical Sheepskin rugs are 27mm thick, overall improving
comfort while the woolen fibres help to distribute pressure, absorb
moisture and promote air circulation. These sheepskins have been
medically treated, and are washable for convenience.
Warm in winter and cool in summer, the wool pile allows air to
circulate under the skin.
Unlike other fibres, wool can absorb moisture up to 33% of the wool
weight; without feeling wet. The wool fibres wick moisture away from
the skin, keeping it dry - an important consideration for bed sore
prevention.
The wool pile surface also reduces friction and skin tearing (due to
shear forces); making Medical Sheepskins ideal overlays for people
confined to a bed or wheelchair. Medical Sheepskin properties provide
improved comfort for the patient and reduction in the primary causes
of bedsores, pressure sores and decubitus ulcers.

The Dog Gives His Tick of Apprval

Had been grumpy with a sore hip. Self inflicted because of my life long habitual sleeping position. Had tried to change it over the years, but once asleep, the habit always reestablished itself. What to do? Someone mentioned the benefits of a sheepskin. So, feeling that anything was worth a try, I purchased one. From Ugg since I knew they were fanatically Australian and I liked their attitude. That I used to wear Ugg boots to watch my boys play footy in below zero temperatures may also have had something to do with it. Only Uggs would keep out Canberra cold! The sheepskin arrived and was placed in situ. Looked good. Pretty colour. Made my bed cosy and comfortable. Even the dog approved apparently thinking it may have been purchased for his benefit. I now need to keep my bedroom door closed to keep him from taking advantage of its therapeutic qualities. He must have noticed that since beginning to use it that my hip soreness has reduced markedly. And I not only sleep better, but fall asleep more rapidly. And wake up ready to face a new day. When the resident dog reaches the stage in his life when he would benefit from a sheepskin, i know just where I’ll get one for him. I’m sure mine will still be doing its job for me, and I’m not sharing!
