The Perfect Remedy For Cold Feet

Posted by UGG Since 1974 on

Over the years, our eyes have been opened to the many different reasons people not only want Ugg boots, but actually NEED them.

We’ve done some research and met some lovely people, and we’ve found these to be some of the main reasons you may need to keep your feet warm, and sometimes sheepskin is the only answer.

After all, the wool’s ability to regulate body temperature – in any climate – has priceless health benefits. One being that temperature regulation within the body ultimately promotes the regulation of blood pressure - a fundamental aspect of overall health and wellbeing. Plus, sheepskin is often used in the treatment of certain medical conditions, because of its priceless natural properties.

One of the most common reasons we find for cold feet, is Raynaud's disease or phenomenon.

This condition causes the blood flow to your hands, feet, ears and nose to be restricted, therefore allowing your body to overreact to cold, leaving you feeling either numb or completely frozen all the time.

Another reason is diabetes, specifically Peripheral neuropathy.

This complication of Diabetes can cause damage to the nerves in your feet. These nerves carry messages to and from your brain. Your feet may feel extremely cold to you at all times, so of course you want to stay as warm as possible to minimise this sensation as much as possible.

It is also possible for people without diabetes to have Peripheral neuropathy.

Maybe you have Peripheral artery disease in general.

This is a condition in which the narrowed blood vessels slows or almost completely block any blood flow to your legs and feet, which equals poor circulation, and therefore means having cold feet almost always!

Another common reason for feeling constantly cold is hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid).

So why are our sheepskin boots the perfect solution?

Here at UGG Since 1974, we only use an A-grade Double Faced Merino Sheepskin. Double faced means the wool and the sheepskin are still together as one piece, meaning you get all the insulating and ventilating properties which are a vital component for genuine sheepskin boots, if the aim is to keep truly warm. Most Ugg companies will either use synthetic materials, or will attach a lining to an outer suede, which blocks the insulating and ventilating properties.

As a natural ventilator and insulator, our A-Grade Merino wool has soft, hollow, miracle fibres that play an integral role in the stabilizing body temperature from the scorching shores of Australia to the slopes of the Swiss Alps. Wearers can best experience the magic of these fibres by allowing skin to have direct contact with the wool. This means not wearing socks with your genuine, Australian made Uggs. The wool’s ability to regulate body temperature – in any climate – has significant health benefits as we spoke about above, including that temperature regulation within the body ultimately promotes the regulation of blood pressure - a fundamental aspect of overall health and wellbeing.

By wearing socks, we deny ourselves, to an extent, of the priceless natural properties that these fibers have to offer, so we don’t recommend wearing your Uggs with socks for these reasons.

For those who have trouble wearing ordinary Ugg boots, we have also developed a medical range, specifically for those with mobility concerns, or other common issues like swollen feet or stiff ankles. You can browse our medical range here.

So, do yourself a favour and get cosy in a pair of our genuine Australian made sheepskin boots if you’re looking for the perfect solution to your cold feet due to circulation or nerve damage. We promise you will not regret a thing!
